Participation Campuses: Right to Vote Resolutions

Campus Right to Vote Resolutions
Promote Our Vote works with university groups and leaders to pass Right to Vote Resolutions on campuses across the country. Right to Vote Resolutions encourage students to vote and explore measures to reduce barriers at the ballot box. Campuses that pass these resolutions become part of our Participation Network, which offers resources and connects advocates to protect and promote voting rights.

Why Pass a Right to Vote Resolution?

Encouraging Students to Vote
Right to Vote Resolutions are designed to get students, faculty, and administrators behind the same message: voting matters. When universities pass these resolutions, they create a conversation about voting rights that reaches from their campus to their city, state and national representatives. These resolutions call for an explicit right to vote in the Constitution -- so students have the resources needed to cast a ballot on Election Day.

Removing Barriers at the Ballot Box
College students face a unique set of obstacles on Election Day. As new voters, students are often unaware of voting policies and procedures, which can result in failure to cast a ballot. Participation Campuses set up right to vote task forces to promote practices that can increase voter turnout. Promote Our Vote works with campus task forces to identify innovative measures  to improve voter participation among students.
